Youngjae Cho (* 1990) is a composer based in Korea and Germany.
His first musical education began with the piano and violin. He is often inspired by daily life
and tries to find various ways to connect the sounds or landscapes he has experienced with his compositions.
The variety of his works includes solo and chamber music, electroacoustic music, live electronics, collaborations with video art, especially the realization of immersive
spaces through multi-channel audio systems.
His works have been performed at various festivals (DEGEM, ZKM, ICMC, SICMF, NYCEMF, SMC, Weimar Spring Days, ORF Musikprotokoll)
in Germany (Berlin, Bremen, Lübeck, Weimar, Oldenburg, Würzburg, Karlsruhe), France (Crest), China (Shanghai), Italy (Bologna, Rom), Portugal, USA, Austria (Graz),
Ireland (Limerick), and Korea (Daegu, Seoul, Gwangju, Cheongju).
He has received scholarships from DAAD (annual scholarship, STIBET), and Deutscher Musikrat, as well as awards from
the JoongAng Music Concours (3rd Prize, Korea), George Enescu Competition (1st Prize, Rumania), Younghi Pagh-Paan Composition Prize (3rd Prize, Korea), Via Nova Competition (1st Prize, Germany),
SoundChain International Composition Competition (Special Prize, Czech Republic) and IEM & VDT Student 3D Audio Production Competition. (Gold Award, Austria)
He studied composition in South Korea and at the Nuremberg University of Music. Since 2021 he has been studying electroacoustic composition at the University of the Arts Bremen (master's degree and concert exam)
in Germany. His teachers include Kilian Schwoon, Peter Gahn, Jongwoo Yim, Seongah Shin.

Seine erste musikalische Bildung begann mit Klavier und Violine. Er lässt sich oft vom Alltagsleben inspirieren und versucht,
verschiedene Möglichkeiten zu finden, um Klänge oder Landschaften, die er erlebte, in seinen Stücken zu reflektieren.
Sein künstlerisches Spektrum reicht von Solo und Kammermusik und elektroakustischer Musik bis hin zu Kollaborationen mit Videokunst,
insbesondere die Realisierung immersiver Räume durch Mehrkanal-Audiosystem.

Er wurden mit Preisen ausgezeichnet, u.a. beim JoongAng Music Concours (3.Preis, Korea), dem Younghi Pagh-Paan Wettbewerb (3.Preis, Korea),
dem George Enescu Wettbewerb (1.Preis, Rumänien), dem Kompositionswettbewerb für Akusmatik der Weimarer Frühjahrstage für zeitgenössische Musik (1.Preis, Deutschland),

Er erhielt Stipendien, u.a. von dem DAAD (Jahresstipendium, STIBET-Programm), dem Deutscher Musikrat.
Er schloß sein Bachelorstudium in Südkorea ab. Danach kam er nach Deutschland.
Und er studierte Komposition bei Prof. Peter Gahn in Nürnberg. Seit 2021 studiert er elektroakustische Komposition bei Prof. Kilian Schwoon in Bremen (Master und Konzertexamen).
